PATRONS

Sir Michael Dixon LVO, OBE, MA, FRCGP

An English general practitioner and healthcare leader. He served as chair of the NHS Alliance from 1998 to 2015 and is a past President of the NHS Clinical Commissioners.

He also chairs the College of Medicine and is a Visiting Professor at University College London and the University of Westminster and National Clinical Champion for Social Prescribing (NHS England)

Sir Anthony Seldon FRSA, FRHistS, FKC

A British educator and contemporary historian. As an author, he is known in part for his political biographies of Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May.  Seldon is the author or editor of more than 35 books on contemporary history, politics and education. He was the co-founder and first director of the Centre for Contemporary British History, is the co-founder of Action for Happiness.

He is also both honorary historical adviser to 10 Downing Street and a member of the First World War Centenary Culture Committee. Seldon was knighted in the 2014 Birthday Honours for services to education and modern political history

Dr Sat Bir Khalsa

A researcher in the field of body mind medicine, specializing in yoga therapy. Originally from Toronto, he earned his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. He is (since 2006) an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Neuroscientist (since 1998) in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders, at the Departments of Medicine and Neurology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in Boston Massachusetts.

Since 2007, Sat Bir Singh Khalsa has served as the Director of Research at both the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts and the Kundalini Research Institute in New Mexico.

Dr Shirley Telles

She obtained her Ph.D. degree (1992) in Neurophysiology from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore University, India. Since 2007, she is Director of Research at Patanjali Research Foundation, Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, India. Previously, from 2007 to 2012, she was Principal Investigator at the Indian Council of Medical Research Center for Advanced Research in Yoga and Neurophysiology, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation, Bangalore, India.

She, as an author/co-author, has published more than 200 articles in various journals (having total number of citations of around 2,190), over 18 book chapters and 4 books. She has published mainly in the fields of Psychology, Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology.

Psychiatrist in CAMHS specialising in Eating disorders. Mother of 3 teenage daughters, lives with her family in the New Forest.

A yoga therapist for trauma based in Sierra Leone and also the chairman of the Yoga Centre of Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Nicky Lewis

Former lecturer in Sports and Health at Bath University, now yoga therapist living with her husband and two daughters in Bath.

Anasua Sarkar – Treasurer

Former accountant at KPMG, now an avid yoga ambassador in schools, currently lives with her family in Norwich.

Fatma Muharrem

An avid wellbeing practitioner, working with young people and adults as a massage and yoga therapist.
